Friday Find: Mahabis slippers

slippers

When Teddy was a puppy, during the coldest, wettest part of the year, I was constantly shipping him in and out of the back door, lingering, watching, encouraging and waiting for him to decide whether or not to do his business. I really could have done with a pair of Mahabis slippers back then. These minimalist, woolly, fleece-lined slippers come with a clever detachable rubber sole, that can be neatly buttoned on. A bit like the Birkenstock flannel clog that was my post-puppy purchase, bought specifically for the purpose, but gentler, softer, a lot more low profile and slipper-y, Mahabis come in two shades of grey (my favourite shades of Schnauzer). They cost £59 and there are six different colours of soles to choose from. They ship to over 60 countries and within five months of their launch in July 2014 had sold 10,000 pairs. I read a complaint on the Mahabis Twitter account that the wool uppers ‘bobble’, and yes, I noticed this with mine. But the pilling almost makes for a matted wool effect that looks appropriately Skandi-cool. Can recommend.
